Registration Information for All Students
High-quality teachers and school leaders, a focus on student achievement and a supportive community all make Durham Public Schools the best choice for your child.
If you are new to this community, we welcome you and your family and look forward to enrolling your child in one of our schools. Parents are encouraged to read about our schools, talk to other parents about their experiences with the schools and visit schools in which you and your child have an interest.
Please register your child as soon as residence is established, even during the Summer. Just follow the steps below:
Step 1: Determine the Student's Eligibility
Children who are five years old on or before August 31 in the year of enrollment. Students who are under 21 on the first day of school also are eligible for enrollment. Students who are under suspension or expulsion from a private or public school and students who have already graduated from high school are not eligible.
If you are not the student's parent, you must present a copy of the appropriate court order to establish that you are the legal guardian/custodian.
