Philosophy
Riverside is a learning community of students, faculty, staff and parents, where every student is important. Each student is valued as an individual and has the opportunity and responsibility to identify and pursue his/her own abilities, interests, and goals. Graduation has meaning, and all graduates should read, write, speak and solve problems at least at the 12th grade level, be proficient in using technology, and be able to work in a collaborative manner. Values are emphasized, and the following values are intentionally fostered and promoted in all aspects of school life: citizenship, courage, fairness, honesty, kindness, perseverance, respect, responsibility, and self-discipline.
Teaching
The primary focus of the school is student academic achievement. The school operates on a 4x4 block schedule with students take 4 classes each semester. Riverside is also the site of the district's Engineering Technology pathway. Students in the engineering program take courses in design, engineering, electronics, material processing, and computer applications. Additional course offerings include computer programming, scientific visualization, network engineering, and computer engineering. All students complete an internship during their junior or senior year.
Advanced Placement (College Board) classes are offered in English, US History, European History, biology, chemistry, physics, calculus (AB & BC) and computer science. A variety of electives are offered through the Workforce Development Department in areas such as: Network Administration, Business Law, Foods and Nutrition, Parenting and Child Development, Clothing Design, Drafting (CAD), and Marketing.
The Pirate's Hook is our award-winning newspaper, and is published monthly. Riverside competes in many men's and women's sports. Additional extracurricular activities include numerous student clubs, dance, chorus, band, and drama productions. The visual arts and photography program has received numerous awards over the years.
Services for Academically/Intellectually Gifted Students
Academically/Intellectually Gifted students are provided honors designated courses in English and Math.

Riverside is on the immediate left. From I-85: Exit to Hillandale Road. Go north on Hillandale until it deadends at Rose of Sharon Road. Turn right onto Rose of Sharon Road.
