Philosophy
Club Boulevard Humanities Magnet School is committed to a dynamic educational environment in which diversity and uniqueness are valued. Our school community emphasizes the development of dignity, self-esteem, and mutual respect by providing challenging, creative academic opportunities through immersion in the humanities, authentic literature, arts, and sciences.
Teaching
Club Boulevard's curriculum focuses on educating the total child through authentic literature, the arts, and sciences as a means of enhancing the quality of life. This stimulating and richly diverse environment nurtures the understanding and appreciation of the culture and interests of all people through our magnet curriculum and additional instruction in Spanish and dance. The school community strives to empower our students to become seekers of knowledge and understanding while creating a community of learners who will exhibit trustworthiness, responsibility, caring, justice and fairness, and civic virtue and citizenship.
The students at Club Boulevard Humanities Magnet are intimately involved in learning opportunities while creating, exploring, and discovering. They are continually challenged to utilize critical thinking skills as they reach deeper into a body of knowledge and into higher conceptual dimensions. With teachers as facilitators, the students will be given freedom to explore their own interests while being provided new experiences and broader exposures.
Throughout their journey of learning, students extend their studies beyond the classrooms into Pavilions of Learning and school courtyards. Museums, parks, theaters, libraries, and other community resources are also used to support our educational program. Students may choose to continue their learning adventure after school hours. An extended day program is offered to enhance the humanities curriculum. These classes further encourage exploration and imagination by providing academic support, cultural arts instruction, recreational activities, and scouting programs.
Services for Academically/Intellectually Gifted Students
The program for Academically/Intellectually Gifted students at Club Boulevard provides enrichment experiences using an interdisciplinary curriculum. Students participate in integrated units of study with topics selected from their interests, topics chosen as an outgrowth and extension of the regular curriculum, and topics based on the North Carolina Standard Course of Study. The program uses appropriate acceleration, curriculum compacting, and enrichment to meet the goals of developing critical thinking skills, communication and problem-solving skills, and provides opportunities for creative expression.
