Progress Reports and Report Cards

DPS encourages regular communication among students, parents and teachers throughout the school year. In fact, Board policy states that it is a responsibility of teachers to keep parents/guardians informed of student progress at school (see Policy 3205).

Progress Reports

Site-based decision making committees at each school determine how student progress will be communicated. In some schools, portfolios or weekly folders with work samples are sent home. Schools also may choose to send home a more formal report at the midpoint of the grading period.

Report Cards

Report cards are issued no later than seven days after the end of the grading period.

The schedule for issuing progress reports and report cards for 2009-2010 is:

ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS

Progress Reports will be issued half way through each quarter for elementary schools.

Progress Reports will be issued every three weeks (15 school days) for middle schools and high schools.
