Literacy Enrichment Clubs - Club Blvd. El. from Sep 06, 2011 08:00 AM to Dec 16, 2011 08:00 AM Club Boulevard Elementary,
Club Boulevard Elementary is expanding the Literacy Enrichment Clubs to include 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades. The clubs provide enrichment and remediation. Volunteers are needed to participate as tutors under the direction of classroom teachers. Training will be provided. Please consider donating your time a few hours each week!

The beginning of the school year provides a mountain of paper work. Pitch in and help out in the Volunteer & Partnership Services office of Durham Public Schools. Duties include data input, filing, phone calls and volunteer correspondence. Attention to detail and friendly customer service a must! A DPS volunteer application including criminal background check is required. This opportunity is short term.

WHAT: Apprenticeships at Citizen Schools give adults the opportunity to take what they do best in their professional careers or personal pursuits and use it to help middle school students move to a long-term trajectory of success. Apprenticeships are project based courses which allow students to learn skills and concepts through hands-on learning activities. WHO: Volunteer Citizen Teachers enable young people to learn real-world skills by creating real-world projects. Lawyers turn their apprentices into prosecutors, artists cultivate young muralists, and gardeners lead a team of twelve-year-old green thumbs. WHEN: Volunteers teach weekly 90-minute learning projects (from 4:15pm to 5:45pm) for 11 afternoons. Our fall semester starts in mid-August and ends in mid-December. WHERE: Citizen Schools operates its program in Charlotte, NC at two campuses: Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School and Eastway Middle School; in Durham, NC at Lowes Grove Middle School; and in Henderson, NC at Henderson Middle School.
