- Hillside High senior Greg Little is a member of the 2007 U.S. Army All-American football team.Riverside High School lacrosse midfielder
- Bob Kercher was named an All-American in 2006 and 2007.
- Southern High School's Patience Coleman took first place with a high jump at the 2006 USA Junior Outdoor Track and Field Championships and represented the USA in the World Junior Championships in Beijing China.
- Hillside High School 2006 valedictorian Justin Gorham is recipient of North Carolina State University’s Park Scholarship.
- Riverside High Football Team is the 2006 Eastern Regional Class 1AA Champions.
- Riverside High School volleyball player Megan Hodge was named Gatorade’s National Player of the Year for 2005-06.
- The Hillside women’s track team has won six conference championships, four regional championships and three state championships (2002, 2003, and 2004).
