Tickets Still Available for Diane Ravitch Presentation on Oct. 3

Diane Ravitch, an internationally recognized educational activist, New York Times Best-Selling author, Professor of Education at NYU and former Assistant Secretary of Education for George H.W. Bush, will be delivering a keynote address at Page Auditorium on Monday, October 3 from 6:00-7:30 p.m. Her topic for the evening is “Will School ‘Reform’ Improve the Schools?” The event will also include time for questions and answers with the speaker.

Dr. Ravitch’s only appearance in North Carolina this year is being made possible by a partnership between DPS and Duke University’s Program in Education. We want to fill up all 1,200 seats, so please plan to attend and bring a colleague!

Admission is free, but a ticket is required. You can get your tickets in a variety of ways:

  1. The Office of Public Affairs has handful tickets available on a first-come, first-served basis. While they last, you can pick up your tickets and the Fuller Building reception desk. Tickets will not be reserved.
  2. You can pick up tickets at the Page Auditorium box office in Duke’s Bryan Center Monday through Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
  3. You can call the ticket office at 919-684-4444 or go online to tickets.duke.edu. Be aware, there exists a $6 service fee for tickets reserved by phone or online.

"What we need to improve education...is a strong, highly respected education profession; a rich curriculum in the arts and sciences, available in every school for every child; assessments that gauge what students know and can do, instead of mindless test prepping for bubble tests; and a government that is prepared to change the economic and social conditions that interfere with children’s readiness to learn."
June 2011 - Diane Ravitch
