Legislative Updates
As you probably have heard, this year’s state legislative session is spending considerable time and energy debating new legislation that would greatly impact public schools. At times, the action in Raleigh can be fast and furious. And as difficult as it may be to stay informed, we have a professional obligation to keep up with legal issues that potentially help or hinder our ability to provide a world-class education.
To that end, two important links have been placed at the bottom of this page. The North Carolina School Board Association, of which Durham Public Schools is a member, provides frequent updates and summaries of legislative action. The North Carolina General Assembly link includes helpful bill reports and status updates as well as contact information for lawmakers in both houses.
