Last Chance to Apply for National Board Certification at State Expense
Teachers who are thinking about applying for National Board Certification will be interested to know that this is the last year the NC Legislature will pay for the $2,500 application fee. In the future teachers will get a loan from the state to pay the fee and then will have to pay the money back.
October 31 is the deadline to submit an application. Teachers must first apply at www.nbpts.org, obtain a candidate ID number, and then click on the NC application site. Completion of the NC promissory note triggers payment of the application fee by the state. If a teacher fails to complete that legal document, the state will not pay the fee.
