Grants from Wake Electric
Wake Electric has generously announced two separate grants encouraging teachers to apply for up to $3,000.
First, the Bright Ideas Education Grant, sponsored by North Carolina’s electric cooperatives (which includes Wake Electric), strives to improve education in North Carolina’s classrooms by awarding grants to K-12 teachers for innovative, classroom-based projects that would not otherwise be funded. The program is the only one of its kind in the state exclusively for K-12 teachers.
The Classroom Technology Awards Grant is available to K-12 and community college teachers working in Durham, Franklin, Granville, Johnston, Nash, Vance and Wake counties. Grants will be awarded in any discipline for specific technology such as computers, digital cameras, scanners and software. The funds for the Classroom Technology Awards Grant come from Wake Electric members who agree to round up their electric bill to the nearest whole dollar through Operation Roundup. Partial funding also comes from the North Carolina Electric Membership Corporation.
The deadline for both grants is September 12, 2011.
