A Week of Celebrations
As the final weeks of the school year inch closer, we often find ourselves at numerous receptions and celebrations. This past week, two important groups of employees were honored by Durham Public Schools.
On Monday, May 16, we honored 63 members of our DPS family who recently earned their National Board Certification. This important mark of distinction is the result of uncountable hours of dedicated and focused work. Additionally, we had two others who earned re-certification.
Two days later, on May 18, we honored those who have announced retirements. To date, we have had 129 employees declare their intentions to retire by the end of the school year. It is always sad to lose such valued team members. On the bright side, it opens a brand new chapter in their lives. We certainly hope they will continue to share their talent and experience as they return to visit and help in our schools.
Congratulations to our National Board Certified teachers and all of our retirees for a job well done!
