Plain Talk “Home Health Parties”

Plain Talk is a community-based initiative aimed at helping adults, parents and community leaders develop the skills and tools they need to communicate effectively with young people about reducing adolescent sexual risk-taking.  Funded by a grant through the Department of Health and Human Services, the group offers “Home Health Parties,” two-hour sessions that can be held for parents and community leaders in a volunteer’s home to strategize ways for communicating pregnancy and STD prevention among teens.  The goal is to give parents and other community adults the information and skills they need to communicate effectively with teens about responsible sexual behavior and to improve adolescent access to quality, age-appropriate and readily available reproductive health care.
