DPS All-County Band performs Nov. 14

Come experience our exciting DPS band program!  As part of our All-County Band event, everyone is invited to attend the culminating All-County Band Concert on Saturday, November 14, at 1:30 p.m. at Brogden Middle School.  This year the All-County Band Concert will showcase a middle school band and a high school band composed of the top band students from the schools participating across the district.  The concert is free and open to the public!  We especially encourage upper elementary students and their parents to attend as this is an excellent opportunity to find out about middle school band.  Because band is taught sequentially, if students want to play in their middle and high school bands, it is highly recommended that they sign up for band in the sixth grade.

We are excited this year to have two excellent clinicians: for middle school band Ms. Jennifer Isenhour from Marvin Ridge Middle School and for high school band Mr. Ed Kiefer former director at Pfeiffer University and East Davidson High School.  The middle and high school students will rehearse on Friday, November 13, at Brogden Middle School and Riverside High School, respectively. On Saturday, November 14, all the students will rehearse and perform at Brogden Middle School.

Our district-wide Middle School All-County Band is composed of 90 top band students from:  Brogden, Carrington, Chewning, Durham School of the Arts, Githens, Lowe’s Grove, Neal, Rogers-Herr, and Shepard, plus W.G. Pearson Elementary School.  The High School All-County Band is composed of 75 top band students from the following participating high schools: Durham School of the Arts, Hillside, Northern, Riverside, and Southern.
