Welcome back! Year-round students return to class July 18
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Durham—Summer break will come to an end this week for approximately 3,200 year-round students. Monday, July 18 is the first day of school for Easley, Holt and Pearsontown elementary schools, and Chewning and Rogers-Herr middle schools.
The buses are ready to roll, teachers are sprucing up classrooms and maintenance and child nutrition services are working to ensure that students have a smooth transition to the 2011-12 school year.
“Our staff is working hard to ensure that our students will have a great first day of school,” said Superintendent Eric J. Becoats. “It’s an exciting time in DPS and we look forward to a fantastic school year.”
Durham Public Schools is requesting that community members be mindful that buses will be on the road transporting our precious cargo. We ask that drivers remember to adhere to school zone signs, speed limits and bus stop signals.
Note: Reporters and photographers are invited to attend the following media opportunities on Monday, July 18 to obtain first day of school video/photos.
