Wake County educator appointed principal of Eno Valley

DURHAM—Tonya M. Williams has been appointed principal of Eno Valley Elementary School.  She replaces Sylvia Bittle, who was recently named principal of Spring Valley Elementary School.

Williams has been Assistant Principal of Dillard Drive Middle School in the Wake County Public School System since 2005.  Before that she taught for four years in Chapel-Hill Carrboro City Schools.

“I am honored to have been chosen to lead Eno Valley Elementary School,” said Williams. “I look forward to serving Durham Public Schools and working with our entire community to foster academic achievement for all of our students.”

Williams received a master’s degree in School Administration from North Carolina State University and a bachelor’s degree in Middle School Education from North Carolina Central University.

“Tonya Williams brings energy, enthusiasm and solid experience from our neighbors to the east and the west to her position as principal of Eno Valley Elementary School,” said Superintendent Carl E. Harris. “She is the perfect candidate to fill the shoes left by longtime principal Sylvia Bittle, and we know that her teachers, parents and students will have a wonderful experience under her leadership.”
