This month’s primary topic of discussion will be the COSEBOC (Coalition of Schools Educating Boys of Color) national conference, which will be hosted by NCCU as a joint effort between the university, Durham Public Schools and the Durham Association of Educators.

Ron Walker, Executive Director of COSEBOC, will be flying in from Boston to assist with this briefing and to answer any questions the media would like to ask.

Dr. Becoats will also share the podium with Dr. Charles Nelms, Chancellor of North Carolina Central University, and Kristy Moore, President of Durham Association of Educators.

Other topics of discussion will include an exciting announcement regarding the National Urban Education Award, an introduction to the district’s new Chief Communications Officer, and information about three upcoming events: the magnet fair, Evening of Entertainment and the State of the Schools Address.

Upon conclusion of the briefing, members of the media will have an opportunity to speak with Dr. Becoats about topics covered in his remarks as well as other topics.

One important note about parking – due to limited availability, we have secured spaces for the media in a parking lot at the corner of Fayetteville Street and Formosa Street. The lot is adjacent to Holy Cross Catholic Church. You will see a student greeter who will meet you in the parking lot and point you in the direction of the briefing.

Please call if you have questions. We look forward to seeing you there.
