Superintendent Becoats to give update on new schools and choice application process

DURHAM—Superintendent Eric J. Becoats will hold his monthly media briefing Tuesday, Dec. 14, 10-11 a.m. at Spring Valley Elementary School. Dr. Becoats will provide an update on district initiatives, including progress on and planning for new schools opening in August 2011. The Superintendent will talk about new facilities for the City of Medicine Academy and Lakewood
Montessori Middle and the opening of Sandy Ridge Elementary. Dr. Becoats will also discuss the choice application process that begins in January.
In addition, Dr. Becoats will give an update on strategies for improving academics at schools with low achievement.
Spring Valley Elementary is located at 2051 Northern Durham Parkway.
