Superintendent will address official test results and exciting new opportunity for former high school students to earn a diploma

Durham, NC – Superintendent Eric J. Becoats will hold a special press conference on Monday, August 6 at 9 a.m. All members of the media are invited to attend.

Two primary topics will be discussed:

Official test results were released by the state on August 2. Dr. Becoats will discuss Durham Public Schools results in greater detail, providing helpful analysis of the data. Elementary, Middle and High School Area Superintendents will be on hand to discuss specific strategies that have been or will be implemented.
The Magic Johnson Bridgescape Academy is an exciting new opportunity for students who have left school to come back and earn a high school diploma (not a GED). Dr. Becoats will offer a detailed look at this innovative program. Principal Dan Gilfort will offer greetings and be available for interviews.

The press conference will be held at the Performance Learning Center – which will also be home to the new Magic Johnson Bridgescape Academy. It is located at 401 North Driver Street.
