NC education veteran is Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction

Mozingo has been named Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction for Durham Public Schools. She replaces Janice Davis, who is now Deputy Superintendent of the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction.
Dr. Mozingo has been the Assistant Superintendent for Middle School Curriculum and Instruction for Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools for three years.
“Terri Mozingo brings a wealth of educational administrative experience to Durham Public Schools,” said Dr. Carl Harris, Associate Superintendent of Instructional Services. “She is dedicated to the successful instructional experience of all students, and her philosophies align perfectly with our goals.”
Dr. Mozingo has amassed extensive administrative experience in public education in the state of North Carolina. For three years prior to her current position, Dr. Mozingo was Coordinating Director for Middle School Curriculum and Instruction in Charlotte-Mecklenburg. She has also served as Team Member and Leader in the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction; as Coordinator for the Triangle Workforce Information Group at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill; as a principal in Vance County Schools; and as an assistant principal in the Wake County Public School System.
This appointment marks Dr. Mozingo’s return to Durham. She was Project Director for Hillside High School the year before it opened its new facility in the mid-1990s. “I am thrilled to come back to Durham and to join such an innovative team in the quest for increased achievement for all students,” said Mozingo. “I look forward to working with the Curriculum and Instruction professionals, principals, teachers and the community as we continue to build on their successes.”
Mozingo holds a doctoral degree in Education from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill; a Sixth-Year Certificate from the school’s Department of Educational Leadership; a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from North Carolina State University, and a bachelor’s degree in Intermediate Education from Fayetteville State University.
