NASA Coming to Neal Middle School

Students will participate in “Destination: Station” – live Conversation with astronauts at International Space Station

Durham, NC – Members of the media are invited to Neal Middle on Wednesday, April 25 for an exciting interactive presentation by NASA and sponsored by the East Durham Children’s Initiative (EDCI).

There will be a live television conversation via down-link with astronauts aboard the International Space Station. Students will have an opportunity to ask Expedition 30 Commander Dan Burbank and Flight Engineer Don Pettit about the progress of their mission. In addition, NASA astronaut Nancy Currie will be at Neal to deliver a presentation on living in space. Currie currently serves as principal engineer for the NASA Engineering and Safety Center and will be available for interviews before the event only. Reporters are asked to check in no later than 9:30 a.m. and report to the green room to pick up media packets. If interviews are desired, reporters are encouraged to arrive by 9:15 a.m. Cameras will need to be set up in the gymnasium no later than 9:45 a.m.

Immediately following the event at Neal, Currie will be heading to Oak Grove Elementary for a presentation at 12 noon. Media is welcome to attend that event as well. The Oak Grove presentation will not include the live conversation with the International Space Station.
