Kathryn Bonner Named Principal of Northern High

Durham, NC – Kathryn Bonner has been named Principal of Northern High School, replacing John Colclough who was named Principal of Sandy Ridge Elementary in January.  The Board of Education approved her appointment at their meeting on March 24, 2011.

Bonner has been at Northern High School as an assistant principal since 2006. Prior to that she worked at Carrington Middle School from 1985 to 2006 in a variety of roles. She served as a teacher, coach, athletic director, testing coordinator and administrative intern.

From 1991 to 1995, Bonner was the Tri-POD Athletic Conference President and from 2000 to 2002 she was the Durham Athletic Conference President.

“One of the most crucial components of my job is placing the right principal at the right school,” said Superintendent Eric Becoats. “I have full confidence in Kathryn Bonner and her ability to lead Northern High School.”

Bonner earned her Bachelor of Science from (then Atlantic Christian College) Barton College and her Master of School Administration from North Carolina State University.
