Jordan High Interim Principal Named

Long-time educator, David Malechek, to lead high school
Durham, NC – Durham Public Schools is pleased to announce an interim principal has been appointed to Jordan High.
David Malechek will serve as interim principal of Jordan High until a principal is appointed. Malecheck is a newly retired high school principal that spent 21 years in DPS serving as a teacher, coach, and assistant principal. Most recently, he served as principal for eight years at Matthews High in Virginia. Prior to that, he was principal of Lee County High in Sanford, North Carolina for two years.
Malechek was an assistant principal at Northern High School from 1993 to 1998. He also served as an assistant principal at both Green Hope and Leesville Road high schools in Wake County. He was the Northern Durham High School Teacher of the Year in 1989 and was the PAC VI Coach of the Year for both Softball and Women’s Basketball on multiple occasions.
Malechek received his Bachelor in Arts from Duke University, his Master of Arts from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and his Principal’s Certification from North Carolina Central University. He will begin transition activities with Principal Greg Newlin beginning Monday, July 25, 2011. Newlin’s last day in the district is Friday, July 29, 2011.
