Ingram appointed principal of Shepard Middle School

James E. Ingram has been appointed principal of Shepard Middle School. He replaces Kenneth Barnes, who was recently named principal of Southern High School.

Ingram appointed principal of Shepard Middle School<br />
<br />
DURHAM—James E. Ingram has been appointed principal of Shepard Middle School.&nbsp; He replaces Kenneth Barnes, who was recently named principal of Southern High School.<br />
<br />
Ingram has served as an assistant principal in Cumberland County Schools since 2003. Prior to this, he was Director of Special Programs for Danville (VA) Public Schools for two years. He was an assistant principal in Guilford County Schools for eight years, and taught there for three.&nbsp; He also was a teacher in Roanoke (VA) City Public Schools for three years.<br />
<br />
Ingram also served as a State Assistance Team Reviewer for the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction.<br />
<br />
“I am extremely excited about being named principal of Shepard Middle School and I am looking forward to working with a great staff and to furthering the legacy left by the former principal,” said Ingram. “All the ingredients are there to continue to move forward.”<br />
<br />
Ingram holds a six-year educational supervision degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, a master’s degree in education administration from Fayetteville State University and a bachelor’s degree in sociology from UNC-Chapel Hill.<br />
<br />
“James Ingram is very well qualified to take the helm at Shepard Middle School,” said Superintendent Carl E. Harris. “His two decades of teaching and administrative experience will serve the students, teachers and parents well as he continues the great work that makes Shepard a national School to Watch.”<br />
