Gibson will take the helm at Easley Year-Round Elementary School

CONTACT: Rodney Nelson, Assistant Superintendent, Human Resource Services, 560-2353 DURHAM—Timothy W. Gibson has been named Principal of Easley Year-Round Elementary School. He replaces Debbie Curfman, who will retire at the end of this month.
Gibson has been Assistant Principal at Easley for the past two years. Prior to that he was an administrative intern at Hillandale Elementary School, and he taught for three years at Little River Elementary School and for five years at Neal Middle School, where he was Teacher of the Year for the 1997-98 school year.
“Easley Elementary School is a fantastic place to be, with wonderful students, great teachers, and an incredibly solid foundation of parents and community supporters,” said Gibson. “I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here and cannot wait to get started in my new role.”
Gibson holds a Master’s degree in School Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and a bachelor’s degree in science from Concord College in Athens, West Virginia. He has also completed the Principal Fellows Program at UNC.
“Tim Gibson has been diligently preparing for this role for quite some time, and he is more than ready to take it on,” said Superintendent Ann T. Denlinger. “He already enjoys a wonderful reputation as a caring and effective leader among the students, faculty and families of Easley, many of whom consider him the perfect match to fill the void that Debbie Curfman will leave.”
