Former Forest View educator returns to lead the school
DURHAM—Neil A. Clay, a former school counselor and administrative intern at Forest View Elementary School, has been tapped to return to the school as principal. He replaces Lisa Napp, who has accepted a position with the Orange County School System.
Clay has been assistant principal in Granville County Schools for the past year. Prior to this, he was a school counselor at Forest View for eight years and an administrative intern for one.
Clay also worked as a school counselor in Wake County Schools after spending the first decade of his career in the private business sector.
“I am delighted and honored to be named the principal of Forest View Elementary School,” said Clay. “I look forward to working together with students, parents, staff and community members to continue the great work that has been going on at the school for so many years.”
Clay holds three master’s degrees – one in School Administration and one in school counseling, both from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill – and one in religion from Harding Graduate School in Memphis, TN. He also holds a bachelor’s degree in physical education from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
“Neil Clay is the perfect fit to lead Forest View Elementary School, having served as an educator there for a number of years and working closely with the school’s staff, students and families,” said Superintendent Carl E. Harris. “His broad experience as an educator and businessman add texture to his ability to lead, and we very much look forward to his continuation of Forest View’s many successes.”
