Established Lowe’s Grove administrator will lead the middle school
DURHAM—Eric Johnson, Interim Principal of Lowe’s Grove Middle School, has been named Principal of the school. He replaces Marsha Person, who has retired.
Johnson has served as interim for the last year. Before that he was assistant principal of Lowe’s Grove for eight years. He taught at Whitaker Schools in Butner for three years.
Johnson also has served as a site developer for the Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) program, and as a summer school principal.
“I very much look forward to helping all of our Lowe’s Grove students prepare to be successful in school and for their futures,” said Johnson. “I look forward to continuing my work with the teachers, staff members, families – and especially our students – as we strive to meet our goals.”
Johnson holds two master’s degrees – one in education leadership and the other in literature – both from North Carolina State University. He holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Guilford College in Greensboro.
“Eric Johnson will provide a sense of continuity in leadership around the focused efforts to increase student achievement at Lowe’s Grove Middle School,” said Superintendent Carl Harris. “His years of experience as an administrator and his thorough knowledge of and familiarity with the Lowe’s Grove community will serve him well in this new role.”
