Eno Valley principal returns to lead Rogers-Herr

June 13, 2002 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE CONTACT: Calvin Dobbins, Associate Superintendent Administrative Services, 560-3736 DURHAM--Ronald Roukema, Principal of Eno Valley Elementary School, has been named principal of Rogers-Herr Year-Round Middle School. He replaces Eunice Sanders, who is the new principal of Hillside High School. Roukema has been principal of Eno Valley since August 2001. He was assistant principal of Rogers-Herr for the previous school year. Prior to coming to Durham he was an administrator and social studies teacher in Moore County Schools. "It is with great difficulty that I leave the amazing staff, faculty, students and parents of Eno Valley Elementary School," said Roukema. "I welcome, however, the opportunity to return to Rogers-Herr to fulfill the vision that was created two years ago by Ms. Sanders and myself." Roukema holds a bachelor’s degree in secondary social science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill; a master’s degree in public administration from East Carolina University; and is currently pursuing a doctorate in educational leadership from North Carolina State University. "As a former administrator at Rogers-Herr, Ronald Roukema is a wonderful candidate for following Eunice Sanders’ very successful tenure as principal," said Superintendent Ann T. Denlinger. "He has a passion for education and has proven himself to be an invaluable leader who can work successfully with the Rogers-Herr faculty, students, parents and broader community." ###
