Durham Performing Arts Center is New Home to “An Evening of Entertainment,” DPSSF Fundraiser
DURHAM – The Durham Public Schools Scholarship Foundation and Durham Public Schools are pleased to announce that the 2009 annual “An Evening of Entertainment” will be held at the new Durham Performing Arts Center on March 1. Duke Energy will be the major sponsor for the event.
Hundreds of talented students from schools across the DPS district will be featured in “An Evening of Entertainment,” a fundraiser for the DPS Scholarship Foundation. It will be held on Sunday, March 1, at 6 pm. The performance will include dance and music of all different styles from students of all ages. This is the 30th year for this event.
Duke Energy’s sponsorship is making it possible for the event to be held in the beautiful new Durham Performing Arts Center. This event is designed to not only showcase the talent that can be found in Durham Public Schools, but also to raise support for scholarships to be given to DPS seniors.
The Scholarship Foundation awards at least one scholarship to a graduating senior from each traditional high school. Many students have cited this scholarship as critical in their pursuit of a college degree.
Tickets will be available for parents of participating students starting Saturday, January 10 and to the general public on Monday, January 19.
