DPS establishes hotline to enhance communications with parents, community
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE CONTACT: Michael Yarbrough, Media Relations Coordinator Public Affairs, 560-2602 DPS establishes ‘hotline’ to enhance communications with parents, community DURHAM—Instant information about topical questions and concerns will now be just a phone call away for parents and community supporters, with the establishment of the Durham Public Schools Parent Information Hotline. The hotline, which goes into effect today, features recorded information regarding school schedules, closings, emergency information and pertinent districtwide events and issues. Information is available in both English and Spanish. Consultation with members of the Durham Public Schools PTA Council spurred the hotline’s creation. They cited the need for a quick and easy method for parents to access important information, such as early school closings or delayed openings due to inclement weather. “Durham Public Schools continuously works to improve how we connect with our parents and partners,” said Superintendent Ann T. Denlinger. “The Durham Public Schools Information Hotline is an invaluable tool that will quickly and efficiently assist our community in learning what they need to know.” The hotline can be reached at 919-560-9129, 24 hours a day. ###
