DURHAM -- The Durham Public Schools Scholarship Foundation and Durham Public Schools are pleased to announce that the 2010 annual “An Evening of Entertainment” will be held once again at the Durham Performing Arts Center on February 20, 2010.  Duke Energy will be the major sponsor for the event.

Hundreds of talented students from schools across the DPS district will be featured in “An Evening of Entertainment,” a fundraiser for the DPS Scholarship Foundation.  There will be one spectacular performance at 7:00 p.m.

The performance features auditioned choral students from Durham Public Schools performing a wide genre of music - from ‘Climb Ev’ry Mountain’ to celebrate the 'Sound of Music’s’ 50 years on Broadway to Michael Jackson’s 'Thriller.’  The show includes both choral and choreographed numbers.  This is the 31st year of this event.

The organizers welcome nationally known clinicians, conductor Dr. Rollo Dilworth from Temple University in Philadelphia and choreographers Becky Bartlett from Texas and Annette Layman from Durham who will help prepare students for the fundraiser.

Duke Energy’s sponsorship is making it possible for the event to be held, for the second year in a row, in the beautiful new Durham Performing Arts Center.  This event is designed to not only showcase the talent that can be found in Durham Public Schools, but also to raise support for scholarships to graduating DPS seniors.

Tickets for this one spectacular performance are now available for parents.  General public tickets will be available starting December 19.    Ticket prices are $25, $15 and $10, and tickets will be available online at www.DPACnc.com  Also, you can call 919.680.2787 or visit the on-site box office at the Durham Performing Arts Center.
