Club Boulevard principal is named

April 24, 2003 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE CONTACT: Calvin Dobbins, Associate Superintendent Administrative Services, 560-3736 Club Boulevard principal is named DURHAM--Lorraine Tuck, assistant principal of Carrington Middle School, has been appointed principal of Club Boulevard Humanities Magnet Elementary School, effective July 2003. She will replace Carolyn Ridout, who will retire in June 2003. Tuck has served as assistant principal at Carrington since July 2000. Before coming to Carrington, she taught at New Hope Elementary School, a model school in the Orange County Schools, for nine years. Prior to that she taught at the elementary and middle school level for 15 years. "I look forward to working closely with students, parents and teachers to continue the incredibly successful instructional programs that have made Club Boulevard one of the top magnet schools in the country," said Tuck. "This is a wonderful opportunity, and I am thrilled to become a part of the Club Boulevard team." Tuck is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in educational leadership from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she also earned a master’s degree in special education. She holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. She received the Outstanding Achievement Award from UNC’s Principal’s Executive Program (PEP) in 2000. "Lorraine Tuck brings more than a quarter century of solid instructional experience to her position as principal of Club Boulevard Humanities Magnet Elementary School," said Superintendent Ann T. Denlinger. "She is a true leader who will work extremely well with the dedicated parents, teachers and students of Club Boulevard ." ###
