Club Boulevard named one of 12 top magnet schools in the nation

DURHAM—Club Boulevard Humanities Magnet Elementary School has been named a Magnet School of Excellence – one of 12 in the United States – by the Magnet Schools of America (MSA). This is the third time the school has received the accolade, the most prestigious given by the non-profit organization, based in Washington, DC. Selection criteria include a school’s commitment to high academic standards, curriculum innovation, successful desegregation/diversity efforts, and the consistent delivery of quality services to all school stakeholders. “We are very honored to be named a Magnet School of Excellence once again, and this is the direct result of the tireless efforts of our teachers, the fantastic gains in achievement that our students are experiencing, and the overwhelming level of support from our parents and broader school community,” said Lorraine Tuck, Principal of Club Boulevard. “Club Boulevard sustains a high-quality program of instruction that is geared toward ensuring that our students get the most out of their time in school.” The award will be presented at the MSA national conference in Raleigh the week of April 18. Attendees will include nearly 800 teachers and administrators from magnet schools and districts across the nation. “Club Boulevard Elementary School’s students, teachers, principal, parents, the Durham Public Schools Central Services team have so much of which to be proud,” said Superintendent Ann T. Denlinger. “This award is well deserved, as it honors a school that is committed to the highest levels of quality for its students. We congratulate Lorraine Tuck and her staff members on an extraordinary achievement.”
