Bittle is appointed Eno Valley principal

CONTACT: Calvin Dobbins, Associate Superintendent Administrative Services, 560-3736DURHAM--Sylvia C. Bittle, interim principal of Eno Valley Elementary School, has been named principal of the school. She replaces Ronald Roukema, who is the new principal of Rogers-Herr Year-Round School.
Bittle was named interim principal of Eno Valley in June 2002. Previous to that appointment, she was assistant principal there for three years. She has also served as assistant principal of George Watts Elementary School, career development coordinator at Riverside High School, and counselor at Oak Grove Elementary School and Southern High School. Prior to her service in Durham, Bittle was a counselor in Person, Gaston and Alamance County Schools.
"Eno Valley is a wonderful environment with a very involved population of students, parents and faculty," said Bittle. "I am committed to continuing and advancing the high standards that have been set by the Eno Valley community."
Bittle holds a master’s degree in administration and supervision from North Carolina Central University, a master’s degree in guidance and counseling education from North Carolina A & T University, and a bachelor’ s degree in home economics education from Bennett College.
"A solid background in education and a strong commitment to serving young people make Sylvia Bittle the perfect candidate to lead Eno Valley Elementary School," said Superintendent Ann T. Denlinger. "Her three years of working closely with students, faculty and families have prepared her well for the role."
