Unsung Heroes - They Drive Learning
Our new school year has enjoyed another smooth opening. One group that has been instrumental in making that happen is our bus drivers. These folks get up very early each morning and bring a big smile to their “mobile offices”. Unfortunately, we tend to forget about the amount of responsibility they carry as they deliver our most precious cargo to and from school each day. They do an important job…and they do it in a world-class manner!
In addition to the all-important task of safe transport, they also play an enormous role in the education of our students. A kind greeting from a bus driver can get the student in the proper frame of mind for learning. Every student, from Kindergarten to high school, needs to know they can always get an encouraging word from a bus driver after a long day at school.
To that end, our Transportation Department recently collected nuggets of wisdom from our bus drivers regarding how they approach their work. Enjoy!
“Kids are like M&Ms. They come in all sizes, varieties and colors. There is something good in all of them.”
Retha Daniel
“Yesterday is history. Tomorrow’s a mystery. But today is a gift.”
Erika Dorsey
“Children are messages we send to a time we will not see.”
Southwest Driver
“Sweeping your bus after every run keeps out ants, burns off calories, and makes you better looking.”
