Robby Kurtz named September Student of the Month

Senior Robby Kurtz has been named the Duke University Durham Public Schools Student of the Month for September.  The Middle College High School student holds a 3.9 GPA and spends his time volunteering as part of the Boy Scouts of America Troop 451 as well as Den Leader for cub scouts.  Robby is currently working to become an Eagle Scout and says his project is to develop a student gathering place near the Newton Building at Middle College so that students no longer have to convene only in the main courtyard to catch up with friends or to study.

Robby is also a member of the YMCA Youth in Government organization and has been awarded the “Best Debater” prize.  He also enjoys fencing, writing stories, drawing, and hanging out with friends.

Robby says his favorite subject is science.  And after high school, he hopes to attend Virginia Tech and earn a degree in mechanical engineering.

Duke University and its Office of Durham and Regional Affairs, in conjunction with The Herald-Sun, are proud to sponsor Duke University's Durham Student of the Month.
