Mishel Gomez named October Student of the Month

Senior Mishel Gomez has been named the Duke University Durham Public Schools Student of the Month for October.  The Southern School of Energy and Sustainability student holds a 4.2 GPA and is active in a number of school organizations.

Mishel is a co-founder and President of the Latino Ambassadors, an organization that promotes student volunteerism and offers academic support.  She also serves as the Student Government Association Vice-President, President of the National Honor Society, and is a member of the Scholars to College program at the Emily K. Center.   Although she’s not quite sure what her major will be in college, Mishel says she is “in love with filmmaking” and would like to someday have a career involving communications, media, and film if possible.

Mishel's top three college choices are UNC-Chapel Hill, Queens College, and Wake Forest University.  Right now, she’s waiting for acceptance letters from all of them before making her pick.
