Hands-only CPR training & certification offered at three DPS football games

August 30th kicks off the first of three hands-only CPR training & certification sessions offered by Durham County and the City of Durham health officials during high school football games.  The trainings are free and will take place during the first half of each game August 30th and September 20th at Durham County Stadium and on October 25th at Jordan High School.

Trained EMS staff will teach and certify fans in Hands-Only CPR –CPR without mouth-to-mouth breaths.  Instructional videos and public service announcements will also invite fans to come down and learn how to save a life.  It is estimated that over ninety percent of cardiac arrest victims die each year due to a lack of immediate care.  Hands-only CPR is recommended for use on teens or adults that suddenly collapse. Durham Public Schools, the City of Durham, and Durham County Government are in an ongoing partnership to teach this life-saving skill to Durham citizens.
