Githens Middle School makes history at Cameron Indoor Stadium
Githens is the first band other than Duke’s to play National Anthem
Congratulations to Band Director Patrick Blackburn and the entire Githens Middle School band for representing all of Durham Public Schools by performing the National Anthem prior to the Duke/Carolina Women’s Basketball game at Cameron Indoor Stadium on Monday, February 6. The students were seen nationally on ESPN2. Perhaps their rousing rendition was the catalyst that spurred the home team to a big win against their rival.
The Githens band will also be performing the National Anthem at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park on Friday, April 27 when the Bulls take on the Indianapolis Indians.
