DPS Breaks Ground on new CMA facility!
Ground was broken recently on the new City of Medicine Academy. Experts say Durham Public Schools is once again leading the way by providing this state of the art learning facility.
The City of Medicine Academy has grown from a Center of Specialization at Southern High School 15 years ago to its current free-standing school on Roxboro Road where it has been for the past two years.
The opportunities that this new facility will provide our students are limitless. Not only will they have state-of-the-art equipment and supplies here, but their proximity to the hospital and the countless medical professionals in this area will afford them even greater accessibility to educational offerings.
A special thank you goes out to all the partnering organizations that are making this dream school a reality: Durham Regional, Duke Health Systems, the Durham County Commissioners, and our own Durham Public Schools Operational Services team.
This will surely be one of the most beautiful and innovative schools in the nation. Grand opening is set for August of 2011.
