Spelling Bee Generates GREAT Interest
Can you spell Congratulations? Well Durham Public Schools' Spelling Bee finalists sure can!
DPS held a spelling bee reception on February 22 for the 39 elementary and middle school spelling bee winners to celebrate their advancement to the Scripps Regional Spelling Bee, sponsored by Duke University. Students and their parents were invited to the reception that honored our spelling bee finalists.
Each school’s winner has the opportunity to spell for the win in the regional spelling bee. The winner of the regional spelling bee will compete in the 2010 Scripps National Spelling Bee championship in Washington, D.C. in June.
Some of the winning words our students spelled include circuitous and gossip. Congratulations to our G-R-E-A-T students, and good luck to them in the regional spelling bee!
