Great Human Race

Durham’s Partnership for Children is participating in the 15th Annual Great Human Race on March 26, 2011. This 5K event is hosted by the Volunteer Center of Durham and helps local non-profits raise money for their organizations. The Partnership’s mission in participating in this year's Great Human Race is to raise awareness of the issues that affect our youngest Durham County residents and to increase resources to fund programs that will directly benefit these children in need. Donations will be used to benefit the Partnership and its many community initiatives, such as the Transition to Kindergarten Initiative (TTK). TTK is a collaboration with Durham Public Schools to build a Transition to Kindergarten Plan for Durham County that begins in preschool and continues through kindergarten. It engages children, families, early childhood teachers, and school age teachers to ensure that children are ready to enter school. Donations made to the Partnership can be used to provide school supplies for Durham County preschoolers and kindergartners.
