<p>This past summer, Durham Public Schools sent 17 students to the Governor’s School of North Carolina.&nbsp; Four of the students shared their thoughts and feelings about the program before and after attending the prestigious program.<br /><br />Governor’s School is the oldest statewide summer residential program for academically or intellectually gifted high school students in the nation.&nbsp; To attend, students have to score within the 92nd percentile or higher in aptitude and achievement tests.&nbsp; They spend six weeks on one of two campuses, Governor’s School West at Salem College in Winston-Salem and Governor’s School East at Meredith College in Raleigh studying various academic subjects, or performing or visual arts.&nbsp; <br /><br />For more information contact the Governor’s School counselor at your school or visit&nbsp;&nbsp; <a class="external-link" href="http://www.ncgovschool.org/">http://www.ncgovschool.org/</a></p>
