Band Donations
Many believe that studying music can be an instrumental part of getting a good education! Luckily members of the community also believe this, as not one but TWO of DPS’s middle schools have recently received instrument donations.
National Pawn donated 100 instruments and an additional $2,000 to support the band program at Chewning Middle School. The owner, Bob Moulton, is a former “band geek” who did not want to see students denied the chance to learn how to play a musical instrument.
At Neal Middle school The Dale Jr. Foundation teamed up with VH1’s Save the Music to make a donation of $30,000 worth of brand new musical instruments! Along with the new grant from The Dale Jr. Foundation, the school will receive a band program in support of a school-wide music education initiative. Neal Middle School has not had a band program in recent years due to budget constraints.
Thanks to National Pawn, The Dale Jr. Foundation & VH1’s Save the Music for their incredible gifts! We look forward to hearing all the great music that will be coming out of Durham this year and for years to come!
