6300 -EMPLOYEE HEALTH AND SAFETY

The school system shall be in compliance with the safety rules and regulations of the N.C. Department of Labor, which administers the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970 (OSHA), as amended. The school system shall provide safe surroundings and equipment for all employees. Safety procedures are to be established for the benefit of all employees. Safety equipment will be furnished by the school system to the extent required by law. Employees shall comply with all DPS health and safety policies, regulations and procedures, and all applicable federal and state safety and health laws, regulations, and agency orders. Failure to comply with safety and health provisions may be cause for disciplinary action, up to and including termination. Safety is every employee’s responsibility. Where any unsafe condition is discovered, the condition shall be brought to the attention of the immediate supervisor without delay. In the event of an accident, the principal shall ensure that all appropriate forms and documentation are completed.
