4200 -STUDENT RECORDS

School personnel will maintain student records in compliance with federal law, state law and Board policy.

4200.1 Student Records Defined

Student records include those records, files, documents, computer data, still or moving photographs and other material that contains information directly related to a student. Student records do not include records made by school teachers and administrators that are in the sole possession of the maker thereof and that are not accessible or revealed to any other person except a substitute.

4200.2 Notice to Parents/Guardians and Students

Each school principal shall distribute copies of the Board's policies governing student records to students and parent/guardian annually.

4200.3 Authority of Superintendent

The Superintendent is authorized to adopt administrative procedures as necessary to carry out the Board's policies governing student records, including assignment of a central records manager and staff.
