4133 -YEAR-ROUND SCHOOLS
Access to year-round schools is available at the elementary and middle school levels. At each level the county is divided into year-round regions, approved by the Board of Education, with one year-round school serving students in each region. Transportation will be provided within year-round regions.
4133.1 Assignment to Year-Round Schools
Assignment to a year-round school (except for students whose base school is a year-round school) will be determined through an application / random assignment process that first takes into account any assignment priorities established by the Board of Education. Once a student is enrolled at a year-round school, the student will be eligible for continued enrollment for the duration of grades at that school, as long as the student is domiciled in the assigned year-round region. Relocating outside the region will result in immediate loss of assignment.
A request to transfer into a year-round school may be approved under certain conditions as described in Policy 4132 Student Transfers.
4133.2 Assignment Priorities
Applicants who are siblings of students currently enrolled in year-round schools (elementary or middle) will be assigned before other applicants. In grade 6, applicants coming from a DPS year-round elementary school will be assigned before other applicants.
