3300 -STUDENT ACCESS TO HIGH SCHOOL COURSES

The Board of Education offers a variety of high school courses as listed and described in the annual publication High School Programs of Studies. Except as noted in the publication, all of the courses are presented for registration at all high schools in the Durham Public Schools.

Based on registration data, the principal shall decide whether the course can actually be offered at a particular high school. The principal shall consider State law and regulations, requirements of facility and equipment, availability of teachers, and the number of students requesting the course.

Consistent with the Board's Student Transfer Policy, students may request transfer to another school in order to take courses not offered at their assigned school, provided there is space in the receiving school. The school system is not required to provide transportation if a transfer is approved.

Adopted Effective: January 27, 1993
Revised Effective: July 1, 1999
