1112 - DATA DASHBOARD
1112.1 Purpose
The purpose of this policy is to help DPS attain and maintain excellence in all key management and operational areas. The Board establishes a Data Dashboard that is aligned with the Board’s management oversight responsibilities and its Academic Accountability Policy. The Data Dashboard will consist of a limited number of indicators selected by the Board of Education. Data for these indicators will be gathered and analyzed by DPS staff, under the direction of the Superintendent, and presented on a regular basis to the Board of Education and to the public.
Although the Board of Education tracks DPS’ performance in many ways throughout the year the Data Dashboard will enable the Board of Education and the public to monitor key indicators of system performance, including but not limited to student achievement, finance, operations, and parent, student, and teacher satisfaction. The indicators will enable the Board of Education and public to see, at a glance, whether current improvement efforts are on track and to respond appropriately when problems arise. The indicators will enable DPS to effectively and clearly communicate its priorities and progress to the public.
1112.2 Provisions
The Data Dashboard will, at minimum, do the following:
- Provide a concise, but comprehensive summary of district performance, including baseline data, targets and results,
- Present data clearly and in an easily understood manner,
- Communicate the Board of Education’s priorities to the community, and
- Contain regularly updated information based on regular management reports and management oversight workshops.
1112.3 Oversight
The Data Dashboard will be reviewed at least annually and updated as priorities change. The Superintendent will ensure that the current version of the Data Dashboard accompanies this policy as an exhibit. The Superintendent will also ensure that the Data Dashboard is widely disseminated throughout the school district and the community.
1113.4 Policy Review and Evaluation
This policy will be reviewed every four years by the Board.
