1205 -VACANCIES ON THE BOARD

Vacancies on the Board shall be filled by the remaining members by appointing to the seat a resident from the voting district or consolidated district of the member being replaced, or at large if the seat is at large. The remaining members shall have 60 days to fill a vacancy. 1205.1 Contingent Appointment: If the remaining members of the Board are unable to agree on a replacement within 60 days, the County Commissioners shall have 60 days to name a replacement. If the County Commissioners are unable to agree, the Clerk of Court shall be authorized to appoint a candidate to serve for the remainder of the unexpired term.

1205.2 Length of Term: If the vacancy occurs later than 60 days before the school board election held after the first two years of the term, the appointment to fill the vacancy is for the remainder of the unexpired term. Otherwise, the term of the person appointed to fill the vacancy extends to June 30 immediately following the first school board election held more than 60 days after the vacancy occurs. At that election, a person shall be elected to the seat vacated for the remainder of the unexpired term.
