1000 - THE BOARD OF EDUCATION
The name of the Board of Education is the Durham Public Schools Board of Education. The Board was established under a merger and consolidation plan adopted by the Durham County Board of Commissioners on January 29, 1992. The Board’s authority and responsibilities arise from state law and that plan.
- 1000.1 The Board of Education is composed of seven members elected on a non-partisan basis, including one member elected at large, one from each of four voting districts and one from each of two consolidated districts.
